Dozer — Gravhounds Crew

The hound who plants bone bombs and treats the pipeline like a claim.

Dozer Crew Guide

Dozer is the Gravhound Josh Holmes used as a concrete example in the IGN gamescom interview: he digs down, plants bone bombs, and those bombs behave like proximity mines for protecting territory. That is more kit detail than most of the roster has in public, which is why Dozer is the easy recommendation for players who want the factory to feel personal.

He is still not a locked engineer class. Dozer places the same turrets, runs the same Grav Beam, boosts on the same pipe, and fires the same weapons as Selene or Zane. The mines are a personality layer on a shared job. Read How to build or you will plant bombs in front of a factory that does not exist.

Public kit

  • Bone bombs / proximity mines. Holmes’ words. Area denial for the ground you have decided is yours.
  • Digging. Mentioned in the same breath as planting. Treat it as vertical or subsurface play until a patch note prints a depth meter — we will not invent tunnel networks the studio has not shown.
  • Territory. The interview frames the mines as protecting space, not as a global ultimate that clears the map.

Everything else is the Gravhounds baseline: fabricator, pipeline, turrets, Reward Pods, extract. See Getting Started.

How to spend Dozer on a shift

Early: help lay the spine, then mine the approaches you actually care about — dropship, fabricator, the first node. Mines on empty desert are a personality bit, not a strategy.

Mid: restock denial while someone else mules kits. Dozer players love to over-mine. Leave beam capacity for repairs and volatile dumps.

Late: mines belong on the extract path, not on the ridge you already stripped. How to extract is the clock; Dozer is the alarm system.

Solo: mines replace the teammates you do not have. Build a shorter base and leave earlier. Intense alone still applies.

Pack: you are the obvious spine/denial voice in co-op. You are not automatically the clock. Greedy Dozers stay to plant one more ring and miss the dropship.

Pack partners

  • Selene: she takes distance crates; you make sure the middle does not fold.
  • Finn: he stalls a down; your mines should already be covering the revive tile.
  • Zane / Luna: let flex hounds mule and gun while you claim ground.
  • Four Dozers: probably legal, definitely a comedy map of overlapping bombs. Mix kits if you can.

Tier talk, labeled as preview

The crew preview likes Dozer because the kit is public and it maps onto the game’s actual verbs: hold space, protect pipe, punish wildlife that walks in. That is not a live win rate. After November 2, if mines are weak or hilarious overtuned, the letter grade moves. The job does not.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Mining instead of printing kits.
  • Mining the fabricator tile so a packmate beams a bomb by accident.
  • Treating digging as a skip for pipeline. Power still matters.
  • Staying to “finish the minefield” after the objective is bagged.

Dozer is loyal to ground. Be loyal to the extract. The Crew hub has the rest of the pack when you want a Fetch line or a Play Dead button instead of another bomb.

Mines and the Grav Beam

Dozer players often forget they still have the best logistics tool in the game. A minefield that nobody restocks is a one-wave trick. Between plants, beam kits to the front, dump volatile cargo in a crater, and throw a health pickup at the hound who ignored your keep-out call. The Grav Beam page is required reading even if you queued to be a demolition dog. Territory is a verb that includes ammo, kits, and a living generator, not only a ring of bones.

If a patch later gives mines a long cooldown, this page will say so. Until then, assume you can shape a choke and still owe the pack a fabricator. COSMO does not pay extra for style if the dropship leaves without the crate. Keep How to extract in the same hotbar as the plant button.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Gravhounds players.

What does Dozer do in Gravhounds?

He plants bone-bomb proximity mines and can dig, on top of the shared Grav Beam and building tools.

Is Dozer the engineer class?

No. Everyone can build. Dozer's mines are a personality kit. Read How to build.

Should beginners pick Dozer?

Yes if you like defending a space. Still learn the loop on Getting Started.

Do mines replace turrets?

No. They layer denial on the same factory. Turrets and pipeline still need sockets.
