Gravhounds Early Access Plans
What Steam and Xbox say about Game Preview — without pretending 1.0 is out.
Gravhounds is scheduled to enter Early Access on November 2, 2026. Xbox brands that drop as Game Preview on Series X|S and Xbox on PC, day one with Game Pass. Steam’s Early Access FAQ is the cleanest list of intentions from Octopus Panic. This page translates that FAQ into wiki language and points you at platforms, playtest, and the Guides hub for the loop itself.
The Xbox announce trailer sits in the middle of this article because that is the storefront pitch for Game Preview. The ONL premiere lives on Gamescom 2026.
Why Early Access
The studio is small and wants to grow the game with the people playing it. Planned EA work: additional missions, enemies, upgrades, progression, and other content, plus balance, performance, usability, and co-op feel. That is Steam’s wording, not a patch schedule with dates inside the six-month window.
How long
Roughly six months, potentially longer. They want time to answer feedback before calling 1.0. There is no public 1.0 calendar day. Anyone selling you one is guessing.
How 1.0 is supposed to differ
Early Access includes the core experience. The road to 1.0 is breadth and replayability: more Gravhounds, jobs, worlds, enemies, weapons, upgrades, and progression, with continued polish. If you only want a finished campaign box, wait. If you want the loop and a voice in the Discord, November 2 is the door.
Current state (studio’s words)
Already fully playable solo or in co-op with up to four. Core loop in place: jobs, hostile worlds, gather, build, defend, leave alive. Multiple external playtests have already happened. That does not mean the Steam download is open to everyone today. It means the slice they are taking into Game Preview is a game, not a vertical slice video.
Price
They expect the price to increase as Gravhounds grows toward 1.0, with advance notice. Game Pass subscribers do not pay a separate day-one fee to try Preview. Wishlist still matters for Steam visibility. See platforms.
Community loop
Discord, Steam discussions, playtests, surveys. Official links. Seven people cannot ship every request. They have said they will pick the feedback that matters most.
What to learn before November 2
You do not need a live patch to learn the job. Getting Started is the loop. Crew is the roster. System requirements is whether your PC cares. Co-op is how not to wipe as a committee.
How this wiki will treat EA
When the first public patch notes exist, they should get a child page under Updates. This article stays the plan. We will not mark Gravhounds as a finished 1.0 release until the studio does. We will not describe a finished 1.0 shop drop while facts.json still says upcoming. Game Preview is still a preview.
If the six-month window slips, this page should say so with a citation, not a rumor. Until then, the date to circle is November 2, 2026. Get to work after that, not before the storefront lights up.
What core loop includes on day one
Studio language: jobs, hostile worlds, gather, build, defend, fight, leave. That maps to this wiki as Getting Started, How to build, How to extract, and the crew. It does not map to a promised raid tier or a named planet list. If a content creator claims a 1.0 roadmap with weekly drops, compare it to Steam. If it is not there, it is not a plan.
Buy or subscribe with the preview mindset. Give feedback like a coworker, not like a reviewer of a finished Halo campaign. Octopus Panic is seven people. The playtest page is how you might speak even earlier.
