Gravhounds Weapons and Guns
Named guns from gamescom, plus the mid-shift pods that mutate them.
Gravhounds is not a beam-only physics toy. It is a third-person shooter with a factory attached. The IGN gamescom sit-down is the only public place Octopus Panic named gun families out loud: a pulse rifle, a sniper, and a grenade launcher, with the host also assuming ARs, SMGs, and heavier kit. Automaton’s Japanese write-up adds that several weapon types exist with different damage, fire rate, and magazine size. That is the entire named list we will print. This page will not invent a legendary shotgun or a rarity color.
Everybody can use the same weapons. Personality kits on Dozer, Selene, and Finn do not lock you out of a sniper. The Grav Beam sits on top of guns, not instead of them.
What Holmes actually said
When asked what players get their hands on, the team walked through pulse rifle, sniper, and grenade launcher. The interviewer loves the sniper; the developers did not contradict that. Treat those three as the public starter set, not a complete 1.0 sandbox. Early Access is supposed to add more weapons on the road to 1.0. Track that promise on Early Access.
Reward Pods are the real gun meta
Xbox Wire: as you fight, build, and contribute, you earn Reward Pods with randomized weapons and upgrades. You might lean mobility, raw firepower, defense, or a cursed mix. The swarm escalates on the same clock. A pulse rifle at minute five is not the pulse rifle at minute twenty. The loadouts page ranks those stack ideas. This page is the named hardware.
The extended gamescom walkthrough also said collecting resources earns build credits to expand the operation, and that turrets can be promoted into more powerful specialized variants. Guns and factory upgrades are two budgets. Do not spend all your attention on a grenade launcher while the generator is a crater. See How to build.
How to pick a gun without a DPS sheet
- Pulse rifle. The default language for a sci-fi automatic. Good for the walk between pipe sockets. Nobody published RPM.
- Sniper. Long sightlines on alien plains. The overview screenshot on this wiki is a lot of open ground. A sniper who never sockets a turret is still a bad Gravhound.
- Grenade launcher. Area tools rhyme with Dozer mines and swarm chokes. Volatile cargo plus a launcher plus a sloppy Grav Beam is a committee meeting.
- Whatever the pod gives you. Mid-shift mutation is the point. Cash a firepower pod when wildlife is already in the living room. Cash a mobility pod when you still have to extract.
Pack rules
Four snipers is a meme. Name hats in co-op: one gun watches the spine, one peels, one mules kits, one is the clock. Weapons do not replace those hats. Controls decide whether you can actually aim after a pipe grind.
Solo players should bias a flexible pulse-style gun and an earlier leave. A grenade launcher is not a fourth teammate.
What we refuse to list
Damage numbers, recoil patterns, attachment trees, ammo types, a secret best AR. Steam and Xbox Wire did not publish them. A fake table would fail the first playtest wave. When playtest invites or Game Preview print a real arsenal, this URL grows a chart and keeps the “shared guns, pods mutate them” rule at the top.
If a playtest wave already dropped a gun in your hands, note what the client actually labels it. Pulse rifle in an interview might print as something else on the HUD. Send that string to Discord; this page will follow the client, not the other way around. The playtest waves recap is the current invite window. Game Preview on 2 November is still the public door for everyone else.
Bring a gun. Bring a beam. Bring a pipe. COSMO grades the haul, not your highlight reel.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Gravhounds players.
What guns are in Gravhounds?
Publicly named so far: pulse rifle, sniper, and grenade launcher. More types exist; Early Access is planned to add more.
Are weapons locked to a Gravhound class?
No. The studio said it is not a class shooter. Kits differ; guns are shared. See the crew.
Do I keep my gun after a wipe?
Reward Pod stacks are for the shift. Longer-term unlocks of weapons and paths are described as carrying between jobs. Exact stash rules wait for the client.
Should I ignore the Grav Beam once I have a rifle?
No. Kits and pickups still move with the beam. Read Grav Beam.
